Fax Troubleshooting Guide
Common things to check when your fax function is not working:
- Look in the back of the copier and make sure the physical cable is plugged in. Typically the port is labelled “Line”.
- Power off the copier with the correct switches (sometimes on certain models the power switch is inside the front door where the toner is) and then unplug it for 2 minutes and then reboot and check the fax again.
- Go to the “Fax” option on your copier and see if there is an “Off hook” button or a button with a picture of a telephone. Press this and it will let you know if there is a current connection and dial tone for the copier fax line. If you do not have that button you can dial your cell phone from the copier like you are sending a fax and see if it dials out and if your phone rings.
- You can also call the fax line on the copier to see if it picks up and makes the fax dial tone.
